Up this week is a brief look at vacant buildings in Baltimore. According to publicly available data, there are approximately 16,000 vacant buildings, the majority of which are densely packed within select neighborhoods.

These data can also be visualized by partitioning the city into small, equally sized regions that are then shaded according to the number of vacant buildings within each region. This approach has several advantages over heatmaps previously used in past posts.
